Situation

95% of care for critically ill babies and children is delivered by expert teams, in dedicated paediatric units located across the country. Every year, around 5,800 babies and children who require emergency transfer must undergo long road journeys to reach the specialist treatment required to save their lives. Some of these critically ill patients require treatment within a very small window of time, and our helicopter enables that to happen.

Solution

Our service enables transfers to be quicker, safer and easier, when time is critical to the survival of our tiny patients. The Children's Air Ambulance is able to move these patients around four times faster than if they were to travel by road, . By expanding our service to two helicopters we will be in an even better position to cope with the demand which has increased significantly due to becoming more established and making a huge impact on our patients and their families.
