    Situation

1 in 3 women in Surrey are affected by domestic abuse as opposed to the national average of 1 in 4. For many reasons people affected by domestic abuse will stay at home rather than go into a refuge. The need for support in the community via an Outreach service in North West Surrey is vital. Our Outreach team also carries out the essential work of awareness raising in the local community which is key to preventing people becoming victims and perpetrators of domestic abuse.

    Solution

Support is offered through listening, acting as an advocate, attending agency appointments with the person they are supporting, providing information, running support groups to improve awareness and increase self esteem, and offering access to free legal and counselling clinics according to individual needs. We deliver our service in a multi-agency setting working in partnership with Children’s and Adult Services, Health professionals, Education, Police, and other support agencies.
