Bees have never been in such peril as they are now and no-one knows the exact reason. What we do know is that if they go, then so does our way of life. Many of our food cross are pollinated by bees. The Eden Project is a charity exploring and demonstrating to the public the links between plants and people and bees are a key part of the story. Eden wants to educate people about bees and find out why the numbers of bees are dwindling.

There are quite a few pests and diseases that affect bees, one of the most common is the Varria mite. With a large enough apiary we would have the ability to trial the different methods of Varroa control from resistant bees, chemical treatment such as oxalic acid, natural treatment like Apiguard, sugar dusting to encourage grooming and physical removal of drone cells. We will educate people about pollinators and the plants tthat are particularly bee friendly.
