To provide a Home-Start Home Visiting support service to asylum seekers and refugee families living in Hull. We provide volunteer support to any family with at least 1 child under 5 and are hoping to expand our project next year to work in partnership with ARKH and Haven.

    Situation

Our project worker recruits and trains volunteers to support asylum and refugee families in their own home once a week for 2 -2.5 hours. We make referrals to other organisations such as housing, ARKH, Haven, Refugee Council were appropriate and help to ensure that the children within these families meet the 5 outcomes of the Every Child Matters framework. Next year we hope to provide English lessons free of charge for the families and to be able to pay for interpreters to accompany our project leader on inital visits to families and to accompany the volunteer supporting the family for the first month. The money would pay for 1 x 20hr project worker, 1 x 10hr administration support, office rent, phonecalls, volunteer expenses etc. Amount Range - £50K
