The impacts of climate change are already having serious effects on National Trust properties and activities. We need to adapt to it fast. The way in which we look after our properties will increasingly be influenced by our changing climate. We can help prevent more severe climate change by improving energy efficiency, reducing the Trust's use of fossil fuels, generating our own renewable energy, and managing our land to store carbon.

    Situation

All the Trust's work depends on energy, but using energy causes environmental pollution and climate change. Therefore the Trust is committed to an overall reduction in its use of energy and specifically to replacing fossil fuel energy with clean and renewable energy sources. This project will reduce carbon emissions through the installation of PV panels on three holiday cottages on the Calke Abbey estate.
