    Situation

The current facility is inadequate for the 650,000 who annually visit making it difficult to enjoy and make sense of the site; there is a need to resolve traffic and transport problems occurring at peak times; the site does not currently engage, reach out to or inspire people as effectively as it should; there is a clear need for people to better understand the place and there is a need for the Trust to develop closer linkages with neighbouring communities who might go on to volunteer

    Solution

Sustainable visitor facilities integrating into the landscape will support enhanced multi-faceted interpretation . Learning opportunities for the formal and informal markets will be enhanced, coupled with which a proactive engagement programme will aid active engagement with local communities. The existing trail system will be adapted to aid visitor flow around the site and a changing places facility will ensure that the Causeway can be a visitor site for those with severe disabilities
