if you trust young people to come up with the ideas they will... if you ask young people to fund-raise - they will - over £30k this year by 24 residents!! if you rely on young people to run events - they will... like their life depended on it if you faciliate this you will find it so rewarding - and so will the young people.. then you will discover that these same young people who were homeless, hopeless, often suicidal and jobless have walked into £25k jobs, have grown in maturity and confidence and have a purpose. then you know that 'consultation exercises' , 'resident involvement' and other good ideas are nothing compared to REAL CUTTING EDGE INCLUSION but we can do more - dont ask us - ask our YOUNG PEOPLE !

you could not ask for a better way to turn lives round... we are so proud of our young people - and so are they! why not work in partnership with them to roll this dynamic programme out to other communities, other housing projects, YMCAs and Foyers and then to YOIs and RSLs... the potential is HUGE the more you put in the more you will get out of this... and so will those in most need, at most risk and those who are on the edge or already excluded from society.. conversely - if you just engage in 'consultation exercises' or 'resident involvement' you will produce a. a very harrased staff team who see no way to find the staff, the time or the funds b. residents who are frustrated that no-one really wants to listen to them - because of the practical problems c. raised expections - followed by delays, obstacles and dis-empowered residents d. even more pressure on staff...
