We are in urgent need of a new ambulance to provide transport to and from our Hospice Day Care Centre and In-Patient Unit to those in our care in Central, North and North-West London. The cost of a new ambulance, fitted to requirements would be £35,000.

Situation
Many of those people who need our help the most would be unable to attend our Day Services Centre due to transport and mobililty problems, were it not for our specially equipped ambulance service. Quite often their symptoms and medication make gaining access to public transport very difficult. This leaves patients feeling isolated at home, sometimes with few or no supports or visits. The Day Services Centre is a safe and supportive space for people to gain access to clinical care, complementary therapies and, most importantly, develop trusting and positive relationships to help counteract the loneliness often experienced by those with a terminal illness. Our current ambulance is used on a daily basis and does around 184 escorts a month. In terms of effective functioning and servicing, it has become something of a liability and urgently needs replacing.
