Situation
Children growing up in Merom HaGalil lack the opportunities that our children take for granted. In this beautiful, but neglected corner of Israel, educational achievement is low and school grades lag two years behind the national average. Geographically isolated, the region’s 12,700 citizens suffer from high unemployment, crumbling school buildings and underfunded education. That’s why UJIA is investing in Merom HaGalil – to close Israel’s educational gap and give its children a brighter future.
Solution
The Merom HaGalil Educational Programme is a holistic scheme to improve the quality of teaching and learning from infancy to primary school. It aims to boost educational achievement by funding more teachers and improving their skills, creating smaller class sizes, as well as extra support for weaker students and those with special needs. It will also deliver coaching for parents to strengthen their participation in their children’s learning.
