Young people growing up in Israel’s northern Galil region face a number of obstacles to fulfilling their potential: a lack of quality educational institutions, low family incomes and limited job opportunities. Many families lack the financial means to send their children to study for a degree, and those who can do prefer to send the children to other parts of Israel. As a result, many young people move to the more prosperous centre of the country to study, work and realise their ambitions.

Best for Industry Scholarships help to reverse this ‘brain drain’ by empowering young adults to gain skills and qualifications who lack the means to do so. Computer science students at Tel Hai Academic College who are awarded the scholarships spend 500 hours a year interning at businesses in the local industrial park and receive an annual stipend during their studies. The scholarships are thus creating a skilled population of talented young people who are making their homes in the Galil.
