    Situation

St. Paul's Mission chapel (a tin tabernacle) in Reading was built in 1911 with a 20 year life expectancy. Now, almost 100 years later the building needs to be replaced. In conjunction with a local doctor and other social services, the project to develop the St. Paul's centre was founded. The land is being provided by the local parish church and the Oxford Diocese and the project is a joint venture between New Hope, the local parish, Oxford Diocese and the doctor / primary care trust. Early architectural feasibility and planning contacts support the project with estimated development costs in the order of £2,000,000. This project will bring much needed health and social services to a deprived part of Whitley in the south of Reading.
