FACES are looking to start a new project working with victims of Domestic Abuse and also working with the Children who have witnessed this abuse. We are currently training a Domestic Abuse Champion and a pool of specially selected volunteers but we need £1,000 to support each family.

Situation
In Bedford there is currently a big gap in service provision for the victims of Domestic Abuse. Just under 50% of victims fall below the threshold for statutory services - are stress levels are rising in homes due to financial difficulties and worklessness, we are seeing a big rise in the number of families referred into our service
Solution
We will have a professional Domestic Abuse Champion who will work with the family to stabilize the situation. This may mean support with housing or protective behavior. The family will then be offered a trained volunteer who will visit the family home once a week. This support would not be time limited and would be in place until the family feel ready to stop.
