    Situation

Increasing the number of older people MHA cares for in Leicester from 32 to 56 and to provide nursing as well as specialist dementia care not currently provided at the present home. Funding for items not presently available are also sought to increase the quality of life for residents in the new home-like IT equipment, a sensory garden, a beauty salon, a library, a coffee bar, garden furniture, mini bus, Wii games console, Reflexology equipment, specialised shower chairs and so forth

    Solution

A Capital Appeal was launched at Leicester Cathedral in May 2011 to create awareness of the new development and to seek support from local organisations, church groups, companies and individuals for help with the provision of the above mentioned extras. A group of local volunteers are arranging local fundraising events and a number of them have also been invited to make presentations about the new project to local organisations - hoping that the interest generated will translate into gifts
