    Situation

Within the programme each individual will undertake a range of fitness activities – including using a kiddie gym set up and a range of activity classes. Despite generic activities each participant’s programme is tailor-made to meet their individual need. We believe that by developing health, fitness and wellbeing this engenders confidence and discipline providing protection from bullying and discrimination, it encourages respect for self and others and limits involvement in crime and anti-social behaviour. As our programme has a focus on fun and the enjoyment of healthy choices we believe this enables them to actively enjoy their recreation time. The manner in which the programme is run encourages personal and social development. Since we are community based this can encourage the participants individually and as part of a family to make a positive contribution in the following ways: 1) Developing self-confidence through interacting with different people. 2) Successfully learning to deal with life’s challenges in a positive manner. Each individual will have a support mechanism through a member of YMCA staff, who will develop close links with them to ensure that their individual needs are constantly being re-evaluated and met.
