This campaign has now closed

The cost of updating and expanding this key ‘classroom environment ‘ is £257,000. So far we have raised £145,000 through grants, individual gifts and fund raising events. The work is almost completed and we are therefore anxious to raise the balance in order to continue preparing young people for a more positive future without incurring bank charges!

    Situation

The tack room and surrounding area at the FCRT’s Avon Tyrrell location is a central teaching area enabling a broad scope of learning opportunity for students with a variety of learning disabilities. It has not been changed since the FCRT was officially opened by The Princess Royal (then HRH The Princess Anne) in 1980. Since then we have increased and improved the work and the learning area needed to be enlarged and refurbished. The teaching facilities within the stable environment are the hub of learning. Students realise and practise new skills which are transferred to their everyday living. Students at FCRT learn to communicate, improve their literacy and numeracy, money management and life and social skills, through the horses and their care. Should you be able to help us round off this project we would be very grateful and the director is personally available to answer any questions you may have.
