    Situation

The Pabulum Blue Book was developed to enhance the experience of the people for whom we care and the care worker alike. It is not a replacement for a care plan. The informaiton recorded in it should reflect its aim to promote true person centred care for the individual when they arrive in an environment that is strange to them. The Blue Book does not record whether someone is diabetic or whether their food must be liquidised, but it will tell you what the person likes for breakfast. Similarly, it does not record whether the person needs physical help, but will tell you whether the person wakes up earlyand if they like to dress themselves. There are pages which cover what the person likes to do during the day. At the end of the book there is space to resume the person's life story. The Pabulum Blue book helps to preserve the person's dignity and confidence, while at the same time improves our relationship with them and their feeling of well-bieng. It will reduce behaviours that we find challenging through meeting the individual's needs. We need to produce a further 5,000 copies of the book, which costs around £1 per copy to produce, making a total needed of £5,000.
