To save a unique Grade II* listed Arts & Crafts building, the only purpose built art gallery for a single professional artist's collection, in order to provide increased enjoyment and access to the Watts Gallery collection and archive. To establish a far reaching education and outreach programme and establish Watts Gallery as a centre for exploring Victorian art, social history and craft.

    Situation

    Watts Gallery Hope Project has six aims • to restore, refurbish and enhance the Gallery’s buildings and its environment • to conserve the collection and make it more accessible • to strengthen the role of the Gallery in the local community • to improve and extend the Watts Gallery’s education programme • to develop audiences and income • to secure the future of the Watts Gallery Trust. The Gallery has secured an earmarked grant of £4.3m from the Heritage Lottery Fund. It is now seeking to unlock this money through match funding.
