Over the next few years Isabel Hospice plans to extend the high quality specialist care which is currently provided primarily to cancer patients, to those suffering from other life-limiiting illnesses such as end stage renal or heart failure . In order to absorb the extra capacity we need to restructure parts of our service so as to free up existing beds for additional patients and provide increased respite care as well as additional care in the community.

By restructuring part of our service, recruiting an additional Clinical Nurse Specialist and a Nurse Practitioner and by providing additional nursing cover for our In-Patient Unit, we would not only be in a position to absorb the extra capacity, but would also be able to facilitate specialist training in non-cancer diseases and set in place more robust systems for infection control. The cost of this project would be approximately £250,000 per year. We are keen to secure funding for the first 3 years in order to ensure the sustainability of the project.
