To create beacons of creativity across rural Gloucestershire by transforming village halls into small art centres. These venues will become creative hubs for their locality in areas that have little or no access to artistic events. Across the county these beacons will be able to host national and international touring companies with professional facilities. This project will strengthen rural communities in Gloucestershire.

    Situation

AIR in G has been organising the rural touring programme for Gloucestershire since 2000. Over 100 events take place each year in a variety of unusual and unexpected loactions - all of the highest quality. Many of the events suffer because of poor facilities and we intend to raise money to improve the infrastructure of the villages across the County. The halls are the centre of village life and play a very important role in maintaining social cohesion in areas that often feel very isolated. Improved facilities and access to high quality events will strengthen the rural communities in the surrounding area as well as providing an additional income stream for these often woefully underfunded social enterprises that host a vast array of groups and organisations from the local WI to Mums and Toddlers and the local cub scouts.
