Creation of a coffee lounge in a central atrium area of the Hospice, creating a conservatory style area that would become a relaxed and informal coffee lounge. The area would be furnished with comfortable chairs/ sofas and coffee tables and act as a welcoming area for patients and visitors

Situation
At present we have no where that patients or visitors can go for a sit down and a cup of coffee. This means they have to gather in the patients bedroom or use 1 of the meeting rooms which are not ideal for an informal gathering. This means patients are reliant on nursing staff to make a cup of tea/coffee for their visitors. There is also no facilities to entertain children who are visiting patients.
Solution
The coffee lounge will solve all the problems listed above plus it will add a degree of normality to the day. Arranging to meet your visitors in the coffee lounge is a much more normal activity that meeting in a bedroom. Plus it will have an area that will give children a play area that will keep them entertained while parents visit the patient. The lounge will also be used by our out-patients as a friendly area they can use while waiting to see a doctor or nurse.
