    Situation

Climbing is a thrilling sport, it’s about beating your fears and achieving what seemed impossible. This activity can boost peoples confidence in themselves and help to build their strength of mind. It involves solving problems, patience and determination, supporting and encouraging others, communicating well and following safety instructions, whilst also building physical fitness. So, not only is it a fun and healthy activity, it also develops life skills in young people to help them achieve better results in life and be better members of the community. The structure will be built around an existing (redundant) electricity pylon that stands over the new and very popular underground caving system. This will introduce a multi-dimensional activity, where people can climb up the wall, abseil down into the dark pylon chamber and then tunnel their way out through the caves. There are no other artificial climbing experiences in the area that also incorporate abseiling and caving! (or perhaps indeed in the country). The wall will be designed to suit beginners and to challenge experienced climbers so that people can progress and use it for training at any level. It will also provide a new experience and training opportunity for the ever-expanding group of young volunteers.
