CLEAR, Kenya, having grown from local groups of pro bono lawyers now reaching approximately 9000 people pa.a with legal education out of 4 offices across the country and many thousands more through radio programmes, requires a national director to: >Coordinate research & represent the organisation nationally at GJLOS level and in the fight for a national legal aid scheme >Develop, train, organise and oversee a larger pool of pro bono lawyers willing to give back to their own society by taking "legal aid" cases > Develop local funding to enable the project to grow in self sufficiency, developing among other avenues, social enterprise schemes, providing employment (often to those released prisoners) and profits to help run the projects > Coordinate and represent clients in the public interest cases, for e.g. the challenge to the death penalty in robbery with violence cases, where no definition of "violence" exists.
