    Situation

The Butterfly Tree works in remote communities, where there is literally no sanitation. Dysentery and other diseases are widespread. Schools can be closed down without sufficient toilets. The pit-latrine toilets cost just £650 each and will last for several years. We use local builders and materials. Hygiene education is provided by charity.
