Gainsborough's House display a number of items of period furniture to enhance the ambiance of the house and set the paintings in context. We have undertaken a review and conservation assessment of all the furniture that belongs to the Society. This review was carried out by Roger Castro who we employed to undertake the conservation of furniture on long-loan to the House from the V & A. There is a total of 19 pieces of furniture in the collection of which 17 are in need of conservation ranging from the minor to very substantial.

Gainsborough's House aims to conserve all artifacts in the Collection for the long term benefit. It is essential that we regularly review the condition and act on any recommendations. 17 items require conservation Costs vary from £165 - £1,000 per item and the total cost of the project is £9,000 We have raised some of the funding and are looking for a further £5,000 to complete the conservation
