Tens of thousands of children are suffering from cleft lips and cleft palates in Rwanda and DRC with nowhere to go for corrective surgery. Without it they struggle to eat, breath and speak properly and they suffer severe social isolation. Operation Smile is training local doctors and providing hundreds of free surgeries per year. The volunteers are ready, the local doctors are eager for training and we know who the patients are- but we need more equipment to bring all the pieces together.

We will purchase a full set of cleft specialised surgical equipment that will be dedicated to the Central African region. We won't need to transport medical cargo to the region any longer which means we can increase the frequency of our medical projects and increase the training opportunities available to local doctors.
