    Situation

A flock of birds are gathered together and persuaded to follow a quest for enlightenment. They must undertake a long and arduous journey in which they will experience many dangers, the most challenging of which is to confront themselves. Inspired by a 13th century Sufi poem, Conference of the Birds is a non verbal, visual, open air street theatre adventure set to the inspirational music of foremost contemporary British/Asian composer, Nitin Sawhney. The production involves professional street artists and puppeteers and engages members of the community in the creation and performance of a magnificent community chorus or flock of Birds. During the week leading up to each performance, Faceless’ street and community artists take up residence with a school, youth or adult community group to create and rehearse each community’s involvement for the performance. Every performance on a local village green, park or open public space is unique to that community and will delight audiences of all ages, cultures and social backgrounds. We are currently seeking funding to to take this unique participatory experience and outdoor performance to disadvantaged communities across the UK. If you would like to sponsor this a project in your area, please call or email us to discuss the project further.
