Over the last 10 years, the GSA has invested significantly in its estate and had ambitious plans to create a campus that met our academic aspirations. The Mackintosh Building fire in May 2014 required the School to pause and reconsider its approach. The School needs to restore sympathetically this world heritage building at the heart of our campus and still deliver on the estate needs of a world-leading studio-based institution.
The Mackintosh Campus Appeal will sympathetically and authentically restore the world-famous Mackintosh Building; return it to its original academic configuration as a home for our whole 1st year community of fine artists, designers and architects; and allow the acqusition and transformation of the former Stow building into a new home and studios for the School of Fine Art, bringing its academic departments together in one building for the first time in over 50 years.
