Situation

Animals are essential to millions of families in the developing world yet these hard-working animals often suffer because they do not receive basic care. This is not because of cruelty or neglect but because their owners either cannot afford, or do not have the knowledge, to improve their condition. At SPANA we work tirelessly to improve the lives of working animals through the provision of free veterinary care, education and training and by responding to emergency situations.

Solution

The new vet will: • Deliver a 2 year Continuing Professional Development (CPD) course for local, government and student vets. CPD courses are currently very scarce in many parts of Africa but vital to develop vet's theoretical knowledge and practical abilities; improving animal welfare throughout the whole country. • Work with the team to provide high quality veterinary care. • Lead animal owner workshops and visits for school children, the next generation of animal owners.
