The Special Yoga Centre aims to make yoga available to everyone irrespective of creed, race, colour or financial status. The Special Yoga Centre is the UK home for the Yoga for the Special Child™ programme which offers yoga therapy both one to one and in small groups for infants and children with a wide range of special needs including Down’s syndrome, cerebral palsy, autism, epilepsy, ADD/ADHD, and other physical and developmental difficulties. All of these yoga therapy sessions are offered on a donation basis so yoga is available to every child regardless of economic status. Wherever appropriate we encourage children with special needs to join in our mainstream classes as inclusion is of great importance to us. We support parents and carers of babies, toddlers and children with special needs offering free support groups where yoga and massage is avaialble alongside tea and an often well needed chat. Our comfortable and nurturing community drop in space within the Centre allows these parents/carers to leave the isolated environment of their homes, meet others with similar challenges, and be able to share stories and information, relax, and make new friends. The Special Yoga centre offers several donation based yoga classes inlcuding therapeutic classes, prenatal yoga, womens only groups and mainstream adults classes. Students are invited to pay what they can enabling the wider community to benefit from the practise of yoga. We have an annual fundraising requirement of £150,00.
