The renovation project is a completely student-led initiative. READ volunteers (from UK and Tanzania) take on the responsibility of the whole project from the library design to the organization of student work-teams. They need your financial help!

    Situation

By August 2009 READ International will have delivered over 700,000 textbooks to over 600 Tanzanian secondary schools. READ International is now embarking on an exciting new project to support the donation of resources. By providing schools with sets of textbooks to use in class, READ has increased the access a student has to knowledge. Our Library Renovation Project aims to create spaces for Tanzanian students which are conducive both for study and leisure. We follow the rule of “quality- first time round” with every library renovation. We establish long term library groups, reading groups, school prefects, etc devoted to sustaining the success and use of the library long after we've gone. £5 - One book - purchased in Tanzania £5 - Set of 10 books - shipped from the UK £10 - Table and Chair set - shipped from the UK £35 - Painting materials £175 - Paint for the library £17,860 - Will fully fund this project
