Children are becoming more and more detached from nature and unaware of the environment around them. Most children do not take the time to stop and look at the world around them, at the changing seasons and different habitats. Children also feel that they have no say in what goes on around them and this discourages involvement, motivation and enthusiasm. Photography is a fantastic way to explore and discover the local area and share that with others.

By actively involving children in all stages of this project it will give them a sense of ownership, enthusiasm and involvement. This project will develop their photography skills and give them the chance to discover more of their local area. By working with local photography groups this project will also foster a feeling of partnership and collaboration and will be inter-generational. The finished product will help fund further activities and instill a sense of pride in their achievements.
