Scannappeal raises funds to purchase life-saving equipment, particularly for the diagnosis and treatment of cancer patients living in Buckinghamshire and the borders of Berkshire, Hertfordshire and Oxfordshire. Until 2012 the Cancer Fighting Fund will raise funds for a variety of projects, large and small, to provide 21st century equipment and facilities covering the detection and treatment of different types of cancers.

Situation
The phases for this project have already provided £500,000 of equipment for advanced detection and treatment of lung, prostate and bladder cancers. The current phase is focussed on innovative diagnostic equipment to detect the spread of breast cancer. £100,000 is needed to purchase this equipment. The next phase will be specialist scanning equipment to radically improve monitoring of patients with breast cancer who take the drug Herceptin.
