    Situation

Since 1995, The Place2Be’s premises had generously been provided pro bono by BT. However, organisational growth and the need for a high-quality training centre meant that this space was no longer suitable for the demands of a growing professional organisation and we risked not being able to grow at the pace or quality that was required to meet our ambitious growth plans. The type and size of space required by The Place2Be also proved difficult and costly to lease. The Place2Be’s Trustees therefore recognised that a dedicated building, which provided up-to-date facilities, was the most professional and efficient way to address the situation. In November 2007 The Place2Be acquired new premises in Islington, London, with the help of a loan from Futurebuilders. The building is configured to meet our unique requirements, with sufficient space for large training rooms, open plan office areas and smaller interview rooms spread over four floors. The new premises have enabled us to have the most suitable accommodation to deliver first-class training and underpin our future growth requirements. We have two large training rooms, several smaller interview rooms and an office for our training staff. We currently have seven members of staff within the training department and in 2007 we ran 70 training programmes for our Place2Be Volunteer Counsellors in addition to training provided for our clinical staff and other professionals who work with children. The new building also accommodates all our core staff who support both the delivery and expansion of our services across the UK. We currently employ over thirty core staff members who operate out of the new premises. Each of our vital departments (Fundraising, PR, Finance, Research and Evaluation, HR and School Operations) now has their own dedicated office space within the same premises enabling better communication and efficiency. We are seeking sponsorship for the entire building with naming rights available for the whole building and specific areas as appropriate. We would be delighted to arrange a guided tour of the new building and discuss potential support for this vital part of our future development strategy to expand our services which will make a lifetime’s difference to children and families across the UK.
