We own and operate two ships, Lord Nelson and Tenacious. The ships are unique in the world in being the only ones to be specifically designed and built to enable people of all abilities from the age of 16 upwards to sail side by side on equal terms.

    Situation

Our ships are the means by which we achieve our integration aim and in turn change the lives of many people who sail with us. Therefore the safe operation and maintenance of our ships to the highest standard is paramount. There are many essential items that enable our ships to operate, these include: fuel, life-saving equipment, sails & rigging, medical supplies, crew salaries and navigation systems amongst others. Without our ships we wouldn't be able to change people's attitudes towards and awareness of disability. Our voyages cultivate self-discovery, increase confidence and develop skills. Our ships cost nearly £2.5m to operate each year and we only meet 50% of this through voyage fees; the remainder has to be raised through donations and fundraising.
