To recruit and train a Volunteer Coordinator who will manage existing volunteers, recruit and train volunteers to provide befrienders for Carers and a sitting service to enable Carers to take a break. Taking a break allows Carers to look after their own health, sustaining the role for longer.

    Situation

Carers are often carrying out their role unrecognised and without support. Unsupported Carers can experience poor health reducing their ability to sustain their role. They also experience social isolation, and increased frustration. Many Carers do not recognise themselves as Carers, merely a partner, son or daughter, parent or friend.

    Solution

Our befrienders are able to relieve social isolation, provide emotional support, and empathise with the frustrations experienced by those in the caring role. Our sitting service enables Carers to take a break from their role. Volunteers also assist in staffing events designed to identify additional Carers in the county.
