The Acholi Region of Northern Uganda has experienced decades of conflict, most recently as a result of the Lord's Resistance Army. Over 1.2 milion people were displaced from their homes and the community has been overwhelmed by the trauma of the exceedingly brutal conflict. We have ben working with the community for six years but support of young people who cannot afford to access education and training is still a vital need.

Working closely with community leaders and the District Education Office Windle Trust will continue to support about 100 young people whose families cannot support their education at vocational and university level because they are orphans or have no resources within the family network to meet these costs because of displacement. This project will fund their fees and give them a small living allowance and monitor and support their progress closely.
