The dolls are in a poor state of repair and need serious conservation work to ensure that they don’t decay further. We have set a target of £3,000 which will pay for the delicate conservation work needed and for display materials.

Situation
These dolls are part of a larger project - Precious Cargo which links people to their collections and to the things they value most. It is a vehicle to explore Sheffield’s cultural past and celebrate its present identity. It will delve into the wealth of different cultures that exist, and draw precious things together from Africa, Eastern Asia and Europe. Precious Cargo will look at the things people treasure and how they got to Sheffield.
Solution
Museums Sheffield will work closely with young people and local communities to create new displays, activities and events at Weston Park and across the city in 2011/12 that bring alive the stories that these collections tell – stories of hope and identity, stories of journeys made and stories of the World.
