    Situation

ASSETS is a well-targeted sustainable development programme. Through the provision of secondary school scholarships, ASSETS meets the economic and social needs of the local community, whilst promoting the conservation of two of Africa's most important ecosystems. All who are concerned for the disappearance of rare habitats worldwide are convinced that their future lies in the well being of the people who interact with them. The ASSETS programme, developed by A Rocha Kenya, offers a creative solution to respond to the needs of local school children, whilst encouraging community support for the protection of the largest remaining area of East African coastal forest at Arabuko-Sokoke, and the associated tidal inlet of Mida Creek.
