    Situation

The Mid Yell Junior High School in Yell, Shetland has a special place in the hearts of the community, and we are looking forward to getting a new building. But we will miss the old place too and Julie Johnson, the music teacher at the school, wants to commemorate it with something special. We are creating a textile that will hang in the school on a prominent wall, and that will be made using inspirational materials that the children and the local community are gathering. We are now two years into the three year project - in the first year, we taught design, inspiration and the mechanics of weave. In the second year, we are gathering materials and making the performance using a graphic score. The third year will be actually making the textile, using the equipment at the charity, and then unveiling that textile with the performance. We will add some financial details to this next week, when we have done some more research.
