We are planning to introduce an outreach program which involves holding community meetings and seminars to raise awareness of physical and learning disabilities throughout Burma. We would also like to provide medical treatment for disabled children in remote areas.

Situation

Physical and learning disabilities are poorly understood in Burma. The government spend on healthcare is shockingly low, and thousands of children are unable to access adequate care to manage their conditions. (This is particularly true of children with cerebral palsy, which has a high prevalence rate in Burma.)

Solution

These seminars will focus on local professionals including teachers, doctors and social workers who come into contact with disabled children. The local community will then be invited to a general meeting where there will be a discussion about disability awareness and the opportunity for a question and answer session relating to any other aspects of healthcare. We will also assess disabled children and arrange for their treatment at our disabled care centre.
