    Situation

Adjacent to Moorcroft Wood, right in the heart of the Black Country, is a single-story building originally built as a ‘ranger cabin’. The building comprises a classroom, office, kitchen, boiler room and toilets. It has full access for disabled people and has excellent access by car and public transport. It is also adjacent to Moorcroft Wood Local Nature Reserve, comprising secondary woodland around a large lake on a former colliery site. It offers excellent opportunities for environmental education and delivering all aspects of out of school learning. The six years old building has never been used as Walsall Council changed the way it deploys its ranger service. Although the building has suffered minor vandalism, it is in good condition. Walsall Borough Council has agreed to lease the centre to the Wildlife Trust at a minimal rent, provided that we cover the costs of minor repairs and equipping it as an environmental education centre - The Moorcroft Centre. The Moorcroft Centre lies almost exactly at the heart of the Black Country. It is equally accessible to schools and communities from Walsall, Wolverhampton, Sandwell and Dudley.
