    Situation

By 2008 EFTC had installed 117 safe stoves into family homes in Guatemala. As the credit crunch hit we had to suspend this project and focus on our core costs. There are now approximately 150 families affiliated in our project who would benefit from a safe stove. Each stove costs in the region of £90. The cost of organising the project, installing the stoves and ensuring that each family is properly trained to use the stove safely and effectively is added here to our final amount request- a total of £150 per stove. This project will undoubtedly save lives. The stoves remove the toxic black smoke from the home which kills many women in Guatemala and which causes permanent lung damage in children as young as 5.
