As nation our horses are getting fat, with that comes the crippling consequences of laminitis. This charity is seeing more and more problems created from restriction of horses and ponies to try to curb weight, which in turn leads to nutritional problems, a vicious and debilitating downward spiral towards a painful death for many ponies. We would like the funds to continue to improve and add more options to our flexible system of housing horses and ponies within a track and surface system. Laying down areas of gravel/slate/shingle/wet beds and sand to allow incoming laminitic horses/ponies to self heal, with ongoing foot care, from truama of laminitis and other problems caused by mis- management. We need to purchase more fencing, electric energiser units and surface matierials to enable this system to grow. Ideally we would like 4 more enegeriser units at a cost of £140 each, tape and stakes costing £300 and surface materials costing another £500. We would also like to have four mobile field shelters to enable us to utilise our ground fully and run more tracks through less sheltered areas. The shelters would allow full use of our ground. The cost for the shelters would be £6000 in total. lastly to bring all of this together the addition of two more lightweight wheel barrows at £60 each, would be very beneficial for those helping to keep the tracks clear of droppings and for topping up surface areas.
