    Situation

Tens of thousands of children could starve to death as famine, food and water shortages affect 22 million people in Ethiopia, Kenya, South Sudan and Somalia. More than 3.5 million children are suffering from severe malnutrition. The hunger crisis is caused by drought, conflict and political instability and is forcing people to migrate into areas affected by conflict and putting children at huge risk of violence, exploitation and abuse.

    Solution

World Vision has a longstanding presence in all four countries: Ethiopia, Kenya, South Sudan and Somalia, implementing humanitarian and development programming. We are expanding our support to those affected by the East Africa Crisis to benefit 2.2 million people in the next six months. Our response will target the health and nutrition, child protection, livelihood, shelter, education and water and sanitation needs of the most vulnerable.
