The crisis in Syria is getting worse by the day. To date 70,000 people have been killed and almost 3 million children, women and men driven from their homes by the fighting. With the economy in tatters and food, fuel and other supplies in desperately short supply, many are struggling to survive.

    Situation

More than 1 million refugees have already fled into neighbouring Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey, Iraq and Egypt, taking refuge in already overcrowded camps. Food, water and safe places to stay are urgently needed and vulnerable children need protection and help to deal with the trauma of what they have been through.

    Solution

As part of the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) appeal, CAFOD is working in response to this humanitarian disaster. We have launched a £1million appeal to help local church partners maintain the lifeline of vital food and relief supplies to hotspots on both sides of the conflict.
