Situation

The IDAI Cyclone will have strong repercussions on the provinces of Manica and Sofala in terms of emergency relief and rebuilding infrastructure, markets and value chains (in quantity and quality). The region faces the imminent threat of famine seeing as most crops have been washed away, while factors such as urban migration and cholera present undoubtedly another devastating prospect for the stability of the region and the country as a whole. However, the principle concern is emergency relief

Solution

We will apply a market systems approaches to relief efforts. Our rural sales agents that usually sell inputs to farmers will serve as focal points for the distribution of emergency relief kits particularly at IDP camps. Our existing marketplaces that connect farmers to buyers in a physical location, will be used to facilitate and subsidize logistics. We can leverage our network to link various types of emergency relief to remote populations affected by the cyclone within a 50 km
