Situation

Hundreds have been killed and many thousands severely affected by the devastating earthquake and tsunami that hit central Indonesia on 29th September. Unicef is especially concerned for the safety and wellbeing of children who have lost their homes, those who are sleeping rough, and those who have been separated from their families. Children extra risks to their health without nutritious food and clean water. It is vital to act now to reach children in desperate need of assistance.

Solution

When disasters strike, Unicef is ready to respond with whatever children need to survive and to help them rebuild their lives. Unicef is helping the government in Indonesia to deliver life-saving supplies and services to affected children and families. We are providing water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), nutrition and psychosocial support to the most vulnerable children.
