Millions of people in the Philippines have been seperated from loved ones; they don't know if their immediate family members have survived or not. Millions of people are living in fear - fear of hunger, fear of dehydration, fear of sickness and fear for the future. With houses, shops and whole communities being swept away by the storm families are left with no means of providing for themselves or their children. They are facing a hopeless and terrifying situation.
World Vision are already on the ground providing for the immediate needs of the survivors. Our first priority is to ensure that men, women and children have clean water as well as sufficient food. We are also handing out essential items like blankets, mosquito nets etc. Personal hygiene kits will be distributed including toothbrushes, toothpaste, underwear etc. Temporary shelters will be provided for those without homes. Essential to our response is counselling and safe spaces for children.
