Situation

Mozart is arguably the greatest composer of all time, and yet much of his music suffers from a lack of context. His early operas are frequently dismissed as inconsequential in comparison to his mature works, but when considered in the context of the contemporary music landscape they are shown to be astonishingly beautiful. A lack of knowledge about these works means that few people have the opportunity to enjoy this wonderful music, which also offers a fascinating insight into Mozart’s develop.

Solution

Launched in 2015, MOZART 250 is a unique exploration of Mozart’s life and work. Each year until 2041 we will perform all of his major works during their 250th anniversary year, alongside works by key contemporaries. In 2018 we will explore the year 1768 in 4 landmark performances and deliver 2 education projects to 300+ children, and we also plan to continue our complete Mozart opera recording cycle. MOZART 250 also provides emerging artists with crucial training and performance opportunities.
