Situation

Cornish heritage is of little interest to many young people in the region. Many current resources, such as museums and exhibitions, could be seen as static, frozen and old fashioned. New ways to bring this heritage to life are essential to keep our history vibrant and alive and ensure it continues to be passed down through the generations. Many of Cornwall's mining regions are now deprived areas, with communities that have little opportunity for cultural activity or participation.

Solution

By creating a feature film of TIN, a comic drama about a touring opera company trying to perform its production of Beethoven's Fidelio amidst a Cornish town's mining crisis, we will bring heritage to life in a fun and dynamic way. Using comedy, film and music, we will attract and involve a new generation to learn about and enjoy its history. The feature film will provide an innovative, lasting and enjoyable legacy of the project with a potentially global audience.
